Production Assistant
Location: Vancouver, WA

Position Summary
This is an entry-level position in our manufacturing operations. The Production Assistant is responsible for various duties assigned by management to support our packaging production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling & Processing:
- Feed materials into production equipment
- Pack cartons into cases directly behind gluers or after stripping
- Strip individual cartons off die cut loads
- Off-bear cartons from cut loads into separate copies or die positions
- Quality Control:
- Inspect cartons to ensure only quality products are packed
- Conduct quality audits as required
- Conduct sorting operations as needed
- Packaging & Palletizing:
- Prepare cases, layer boards, and labels for jobs
- Stack cartons according to specifications on pallets
- Ensure labels are correct and facing outward on finishing pallets
- Confirm corrugated materials are properly aligned
- Stretch wrap complete pallets and send to shipping
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate banding/wrapping equipment
- Operate PackSize equipment
- Safely operate electric pallet jacks to move work-in-progress or finished pallets
- Data Management & Support:
- Scan finished goods and input data into computer systems
- Check job tickets and spec books for appropriate pallet configurations
- Re-stock materials for following crews (lids, corrugated, tape, etc.)
- Workplace Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness of work area
- Remove stray cartons and perform general housekeeping during make-ready
Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
Schedule:
- Must be able to work 8-hour shifts plus overtime as required
- Flexibility to work alternate schedules including early mornings, nights, and weekends
- Punctual attendance required
Physical Requirements:
- Standing and walking 34-66% of work time
- Frequent pushing/pulling with force of 15 lbs, occasionally 30-40 lbs
- Frequent lifting of 15 lbs, occasionally 30-40 lbs
- Ability to climb stairs, kneel, crouch, balance, and bend forward
- Good hand-eye coordination and color vision
- Ability to wear required PPE (safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection)
Key Competencies:
- Communication: Ability to read and understand instructions, write simple correspondence, and present information effectively
- Math Skills: Basic arithmetic operations with money, weight, volume, and distance measurements
- Problem Solving: Common sense reasoning to follow detailed instructions and handle standardized situations
